This Cookie Policy explains how PetSenseAI uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage, and pixels) on petsenseai.com and inside the app. It works alongside our Privacy Policy. By using PetSenseAI you agree to the use of strictly necessary cookies; every other category is opt-in and controlled by you.

Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device so it can remember you between page loads. Similar technologies such as local storage and session storage do the same job with a slightly different mechanism. We treat all of them together in this policy.

We group cookies into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the product cannot function without them. The other three categories are opt-in through the cookie banner and the in-app privacy settings.

• Strictly necessary: sign-in session, CSRF protection, load balancing, cookie-consent choice itself. Always on.
• Functional: remembers preferences such as tone setting, timezone, last-used pet, and reminder view. Opt-in.
• Analytics: privacy-respecting product analytics that help us understand which features are used and where users get stuck. Aggregated, never sold. Opt-in.
• Marketing: measurement of referral campaigns and social previews. Off by default and only enabled if you opt in.

The exact list evolves as we ship features. The table below reflects the categories active today; specific cookie names are visible in your browser's developer tools under Application, Storage, Cookies.

• sb-* (Strictly necessary): authentication session tokens from our managed auth provider. Session or up to 30 days.
• petsense.consent (Strictly necessary): stores your cookie choices so we do not ask again. 12 months.
• petsense.prefs (Functional): tone, timezone, and last-used pet. 12 months, opt-in.
• petsense.analytics (Analytics): anonymous product analytics id. 12 months, opt-in.
• petsense.aeo.vid (Analytics): a random attribution id stored in local storage that links an article you read on our public answers pages to your later use of the product, so we can see which topics and regions are useful. Not derived from your IP address, not shared with third parties, and not used for advertising. 90 days, rolling, opt-in.
• petsense.utm (Marketing): last referral source for attribution. 90 days, opt-in.

Some cookies are set by service providers we use to operate the product. They act as processors under written data protection agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

• Managed authentication provider: session cookies for sign-in.
• Payments provider (Stripe): fraud prevention on checkout pages. Only loaded on billing pages.
• Product analytics provider: only loaded after you opt in to Analytics.
• Error and crash reporting: sampled, contains no cookies unless you opt in to Analytics.

You are in control at all times. You can change your mind whenever you like and the change takes effect on the next page load.

• Open the cookie banner from the Cookie preferences link in the footer to review or change your categories.
• In the app, go to Settings, Privacy to update analytics and marketing preferences server-side; the choice syncs across your devices.
• Every browser also lets you block or delete cookies directly. See aboutcookies.org for step-by-step instructions per browser.
• Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened while consent was in place.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. When your browser sends GPC we treat it as a valid opt-out of analytics and marketing cookies for that browser, even if you have not opened the banner.

We will update this page when we add or remove cookies. Material changes are announced in-app or by email. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
